Wynona Earp Season 4 Premiere

Season 4 of SYFY's Wynonna Earp isn't just happening—it's here. With the fate of the supernatural Western series up in the air as recently as last year due to financial problems IDW Entertainment, the fans, known as Earpers, rallied behind their beloved show and now, not even coronavirus can stop the upcoming season's release. However, it did halt their production, which was merely put on pause back in March.
The cast and crew were still able to complete six of the twelve episodes by that point, with the latter half being worked on as we speak.
Based on the Image comic books, the series, revolving around its titular character, a descendant of the famous Old West figure, Wyatt Earp, takes place in the present day as revenant outlaws, once killed by the lawmen, are now haunting his great-great-granddaughter. Wynonna must protect the cursed town of Purgatory from these evil entities.
Our friend, Tim Rozon, is back in action as Doc Holliday. As Tim puts it, this season is for the fans. And he can't be more correct. The Earpers' campaign began on social media and eventually led to their funding of a billboard in Times Square.
We've also been filled in that Wynonna herself, actress Melanie Scrofano is taking the director's chair during the upcoming season. Wynonna Earp is a series filled with complexities and nuance, and Scrofano has always helped guide that tone and traverse those intricate waters. And now she gets the chance to be even more involved behind the camera. This really is her show.
Also returning is Dominique Provost-Chalkley as the half-angel/half-human Waverly Earp, Wynonna's younger sister with a bit of a chip on her shoulder.
The two-hour season 3 finale ended with a load of cliffhangers as Doc and Waverly were sent to another plane of existence. Now, Wynonna will try to get them back any way she can while fans will hopefully learn more about the Garden as well as find out what the ominous message, "VALDEZ," really means.
If you need to catch up, now's the best time to do so with the first three seasons streaming on Netflix. And if you thought the energy was phenomenal before, get ready to experience the cast and crew in a way you've never seen them—thankful and reinvigorated. Because now, they've been given new life thanks to their diehard fanatics.
Season 4 of Wynonna Earp premieres on SYFY on July 26 with new episodes out weekly.
